200 HOUR 30-DAY SUMMER OF YOGA DEEPENING & TEACHER TRAINING IMMERSION

This summer, Avenues Yoga is offering a powerful 21-day immersion course to deepen your yoga practice while earning 200 Hour Yoga Alliance teacher certification.

It is said that a habit takes 21 days to break or to establish a new one… are you ready to dedicate that time to invest in yourself? Each day of this total immersion will steep you in practices that will lead you on the path to a life more deeply lived from the heart, nourished, nurtured, and equipped with the jewels (tools) for experiencing more peace, less suffering, better health, stronger body, calmer mind and deeper awareness and appreciation for all that is… You will also be professionally qualified through Yoga Alliance to share all of the jewels you receive with your community should you wish to pursue teaching others.

Choose 60 elective credit modules in select specialties to support the next phase of developing and enriching your practice and teachings.

Chanda is a RYT-500 hour and E-RYT 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certified yogini who offers a holistic approach to yoga by honoring the mind, body and spirit collectively. She studied  Samayoga, Under the Banyan Tree with Sky Akasha and Swami Vagishananda in Bali, Indonesia.  It was in that mystical setting, she received a deeper understanding of yoga, Ayurveda and the influence of the elements. She realized the calling to share this vital teaching with students and sculpts her classes to provide a balancing effect, teaching from her heart, and cultivating a sacred space for students to realize their own potential for healing and growth.  She considers pranayama, meditation and mantra an integral part of her complete yoga practice.

Becka Cooper was 16 years old living in St George, Utah the first time she walked into a yoga class and she knew immediately she would one day be a yoga instructor.  She would later suffer a serious fall while bouldering, breaking both of her ankles and bound to crawl, be carried or in a wheelchair for 3 months. That fall brought her to Salt Lake City, where she met a local yoga instructor who reminded her of her forgotten passion and desire to become an instructor and encouraged her to attend her first yoga teacher training.  She completed her first training is 2010 and is now E-RYT 500 Hour Certified and has completed numerous trainings with renowned teachers like Dana Baptiste, Ana Forrest, and Peter Francyk.  She has been teaching with Avenues Yoga for nearly 10 years and continues to lead teacher trainings, sharing her extensive knowledge of yoga and bringing the playfulness that makes students realize anything is possible.

One thing she loves about yoga is that anybody can do it “the actual practice of yoga takes each person in a different direction.” That “careful observation will enable us to discover something new.” But through intentional breath and conscious movement, the head, heart, and body can move as one, come into union and be yogic. And when in union with oneself, true authentic expression can be found.

 

Mary Johnston-Coursey first experienced yoga by jumping into a daily Ashtanga practice in 1980. She was swept away by the practice, which has been her physical and spiritual foundation ever since.  Over the years she has studied in numerous styles and with many amazing yogis, including Rod Stryker, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Donna Farhi, Judith Lasater, Jenny Otto, Richard Miller, and Felicity Greene.

She is deeply grateful to all of her teachers, and is especially honored to be a part of the Sri Vidya lineage of Para Yoga – a lineage that offers a path of continual growth and thriving.

Bailey first began practicing yoga in 2007 shortly after moving to NYC. Using her practice as a way to escape a hectic city lifestyle, it wasn’t long before noticing the internal and external transformation that began to take place in her life. She spent the following 5 years deepening her relationship with her practice and studying many different styles and teachers.

In 2012 with a drive to share her passion and practice she went to India to complete her first teacher training.

Certified at the RYT-200 level Bailey pulls from many styles to share her personal practice. Her vinyasa style classes are based in strength, inviting each student to challenge themselves to their full potential. She weaves together the physical practice of asana and yoga philosophy aiming to use the body as a tool to find more strength and balance in the mind and off of the mat.

Charlie Hastings, a Utah native, woodworker, yoga teacher, and artist, grew up amongst lumber and table saws in his family’s custom furniture business, Wood Revival. There he developed a love and skill for working with wood, and a sore back… Chronic back pain led him to yoga in 2008, after years of limited results with traditional western methods. With Yoga, not only did his pain decrease and eventually cease, it also revealed a new and unexpected path. In 2010 he left the furniture business to pursue is passions concerning the planet.

In 2012 Hastings completed a BS degree in geography with a particular interest in physical geography and climate change. All the while dedicated to his yoga practice.
With his newly expanding sense of self, Hastings also began seeing new ways of connecting his wood working practice with his yoga practice.

Out of this combination came an art project where he made several meditation altars. This new artistic expression eventually led to building dozens and dozens of altars.

In 2016 he was accepted into the Utah Arts Festival, where he received an Artist Marketplace Award of Merit. He also showed at the Utah Arts Festival in 2017.

Upon much reflection he decided to go back to the craft of building furniture and delved deeper into his Yoga practice.

In 2014, after a trip to India and a growing desire to share what he had learned on his path, he completed a Yoga Alliance certified teacher training. In 2015 he started teaching yoga classes at Avenues Yoga.   For Hastings, his path has been about letting things come together, and allowing his creative and professional life unfold before him.

 

Micha is a student from Salt Lake City who loves to learn and experience new things. She has practiced yoga her whole life, even in times when she didn’t realize it.  Her primary practice is Ashtanga, and she’s been a dedicated Ashtangi for 4 years now. While her heart lies in this practice, she has a deep love for all types of yoga and its sister practices, such as Ayurveda and Jyotish. She’s studied and trained here in Salt Lake, as well as Mysore, India with teacher Barath Shetty of Indea Yoga. Yoga has led her to amazing people and places, and challenges her everyday to be the best version of herself.  She is dedicated to cultivating more peace, more compassion, and more harmony in the world, starting with our community.

Molly Craig is a native of Naples, Florida but has lived in Utah for almost 20 years. As a professional ballet dancer, she trained in both Mat Pilates and the Reformer for strength, flexibility and recovery throughout her career. She discovered yoga 12 years ago after leaving dance professionally years earlier and becoming a mother to four children. She fell in love with what yoga offered both physically and spiritually. Molly has an Anusara foundation as she apprenticed under an Anusara Inspired yoga teacher for many years. Always a student continuing her exploration and education, she began her study of ParaYoga under Master Teacher, Mary Johnston-Coursey and is currently in the 300 hour RYT program. She is an ambassador of EssentialYoga using essential oils to enhance her students’ practice and is a Wellness Advocate with doTERRA Essential Oils with a strong belief in natural solutions to support better health.

Molly loves to teach EssentialYoga, Anusara Alignment and Flow, Vinyasa Flow, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Meditation. She owned a studio in Heber City offering dance fitness, yoga, barre and Pilates for five wonderful years and has now relocated to Salt Lake City with her two sons. She is happy to call Avenues Yoga home and very excited to be part of the wonderful community.
